Young Men's Christian Association of York & York County is Hiring a Wellness Attendant Near Dover, PA

The Wellness Attendant keep safety and sanitation as their #1 priority, while welcoming members and assisting them in the Wellness Center. Available hours at the Bob Hoffman Dover YMCA include Monday-Friday 5:15-9am.

Employees enjoy FREE use of the facilities at all branches, including our outdoor pools, gym, and wellness center. Program discounts include FREE use of Child Watch up to 3 hours per day or Camp/School-Aged Child Care for your own children while you’re working, and discounts on programs and lessons. Full-time and Regular Part-time Employees accrue PTO after their first month and receive free membership for their family!

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Works effectively with people of different backgrounds, abilities, opinions and perceptions.
  2. Develops relationships with staff, members and community partners to advance the mission of the YMCA.
  3. Enhances YMCA of York and York County membership by demonstrating the Y core values while keeping the Wellness Center a safe and pleasant environment.
  4. Cleans equipment and surrounding floor area within the Wellness Center by using proper cleaning supplies and procedures.
  5. Monitors the Wellness Center by walking the floor, kindly enforces Wellness Center rules, encourages safe and proper equipment use and equipment clean up.
  6. Follows reporting and signage procedure regarding broken or missing equipment/supplies. Maintain accurate attendance records.
  7. Reviews equipment tutorials on the Y YouTube channel and via Precor’s QR codes to possess a working knowledge of equipment in wellness center.
  8. Is knowledgeable of and promotes YMCA virtual and on site programs to members.
  9. Wears appropriate and approved fitness attire, therefore being easily identifiable by members.
  10. Applies York and York County YMCA policy/procedures for emergency situations, including emergency and safety procedures. Completes incident and accident reports as necessary.
  11. Serves as a role model for other staff members by demonstrating exemplary job skills and behavior.
  12. Attends required staff meetings, educational workshops and certifications.
  13. Maintains certification by attending CEC classes and submitting required updated paperwork to the YMCA of the USA and the YMCA of York and York County.
  14. Completes additional duties as assigned by the Wellness Coordinator/Director.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • At least 16 years of age
  • Obtain CPR/AED certification within 3 months of hire
  • Ability to work well with people and maintain a positive attitude
  • Knowledge of strength training and cardio equipment
  • Complete the following within 1 month of hire:
    • Living Our Cause
    • Cause Driven Tour
    • Orientation to Healthy Living at the Y
    • Wellness Center at the Y training
  • Complete the following within 3 months of hire:
    • Foundations of Listen First
    • Principles of Member Health and Wellness

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Ability to instruct and observe health seekers with proper form and technique.
  • Ability to exert up to 25 pounds of force regularly and 45 pounds of force occasionally.
  • Ability to Climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, stand, walk, push, pull, lift grasp, talk, make repetitive motions, see and hear.
